About the Book

Almost 60 years of independence, India is considered as a role model in nation-building based on the principles of democracy, secularism, pluralism and economic development with equity. Kazakhstan is a vibrant, dynamic, resource-endowed and an important country in India’s extended neighbourhood with a tradition of warm ties with India. It is poised for a significant role in the region. The Central Asian states are mercifully blessed with an abundance of natural resources, including energy. With energy security now occupying centre-stage, Central Asia is drawing international attention.

This volume aims at enabling a better understanding of India- Kazakhstan relations through scholarly exchanges. The topics covered are: a survey of Indo-Kazakh relations, geopolitical scenario in Central Asia, the imperatives of regional cooperation, the stakes of major powers and MNCs, the role of international organisation like SCO, CICA and CSTO and the potential for India to contribute to the politico-economic processes in progress in Kazakhstan and the region as a whole.
